ABOUT ME
A short bio
A British Brummie by birth, I now live in Andalucia, Spain.
After a commercial schooling, I spent 5 years working in a bank, followed by secretarial and PA work around the Midlands.
After marrying, I moved to a smallholding in Wales.
My husband's ill health eventually forced a re-think of our lifestyle, and it was while listening to Chris Stewart reading his book, Driving Over Lemons, we decided to buy an apartment in Spain.
There, I joined a writing group, Writers' Ink.
I have written two novels, short stories, articles for magazines and contributed to group anthologies.
Always up for a challenge, in 2018 we bought a run down village house in Andalucia, which, although now solo, I am slowly renovating. with the help, (or hindrance,) of rescue dog, Zeus.
I am still trying to grow my own bottle of wine.
THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME
I was born with asthma and didn’t go to school until I was 7, but I could read and write when I got there. (Thanks Dad.)
I backpacked solo around Crete and I have walked the Samarian Gorge.
I was in the chorus of a show at Birmingham Ice Rink (Summerhill Road). I was a Dutch Girl and a Flower.
I am a Natural Healer. (Laying on of Hands)
Won a cup for Best Newcomer at a Writers’ Ink Annual Dinner.
I completed a Half Marathon. (...and, no, I didn't come last!)
I had a smallholding in Wales.
I look like Helen Mirren (So they say...)
(I can see it now. Fan rushes up to Helen Mirren and asks, “Are you the famous author, Janettte Davies?”
Helen replies, “No, I’m just a Dame.”
